1) How long have you been doing what you do and how did you become a Breakthrough Strategy Business and Life coach?

15 years ago I got certified as a personal and professional coach from the Coaches Training Institute and soon after started my own coaching practice. For six years, thereafter. I worked with a wide array of people — senior managers, writers, small-business owners, directors of nonprofit organizations, financial specialists —both in person and on the phone, guiding them toward finding a clear direction that represented who they truly were and supporting them in creating an empowering plan to manifest results in alignment with their vision. I co-founded and led a local chapter of the International Coaching Federation, and co-led monthly meetings for other coaches that focused on developing coaching and business skills. I got certified as a Guerilla Marketing Coach and Career Management Coach.

In 2001 I took a position as the training director for Legacy Banks. My passion for exploring new possibilities and my years of helping others craft businesses plans came as an asset as I built the foundation for what was Legacy Banks ’ training department. The creation and implementation of a bank-wide recognition program led me to being an Employee of the Year nominee two years in a row. Some of my community involvement included being part of the wellness council of the Berkshires, along with creating a bank-wide wellness program. I founded and led a chapter of the Toastmasters International for almost three years and was involved in other organizations, such as Berkshire Young Professionals and the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce.

In 2007, when the economy took a drastic turn for the worst, I was one of 10 people, mostly senior managers, to get laid off. I took this setback as an opportunity to transition into managing, Rhythms, the business that my husband of 19 years, Dan and I had started in 2006.

In 2011, I had an epiphany. I had been working 7 days/week for 3 years when I got diagnosed with Epstein Barr and Lyme disease. I was “burned out. I decided to look deeper into the root cause of this recurrent auto-immune disease because I could not see any reasons why I should get so sick, especially after “doing all the right things” for years. I ate nutritious food, exercised daily both indoors and outdoors and practiced yoga regularly yet my immune system could not cope with these recurrent viruses.

I came to understand that there is a distinction between running a business versus having the business “run you”. I learned the hard way how to establish priorities, create balance between life and work, focus on what truly matters and build a business that it truly a reflection of who I am. I now know that leading a business is “an internal job” as much as an external one. After six months of rest and soul searching, I began regaining clarity on the next phase of my career/business and began rebuilding my coaching practice.

Because I know from personal and professional experience that burnout is possible, and that some of the root causes of burnout stem from undigested past and present emotions and beliefs, I know that change cannot happen without addressing personal and professional issues simultaneously.

It is now obvious to me that business and personal growth are truly intertwined and that growing a business demands that we grow along with it. When we choose to leave a part of us behind (our health, our deeper purpose and fulfillment, family or relationships) to prioritize work only, our professional life and business will suffer, and ultimately so will, our ability to truly succeed.

Since then, I have been determined to help other entrepreneurs, mostly women and leaders to do the same; to grow beyond burnout and breakdowns and bring all “parts of themselves and their life & rdquo; forward in the mix of success. I even believe that when a burnout/breakdown is understood and integrated, we stand stronger in our authentic power, will make clearer decisions and take decisive actions, all of which are important elements to success.

The Power To Be You System™ is a 5-step system that helps women entrepreneurs transform burnout/breakdowns/failures into breakthroughs by reclaiming their authentic power, their health and vitality, and boosting profits by re-building sustainable business systems that includes their vision, passion, and purpose.

2) Who are your clients?

I work with people who are in two different stages of business, building and growth. I work with women who are starting up a service based business, after deciding to leave a successful career because they want to do something that they truly believe in. They are coaches, therapists, yoga teachers, physical therapist, attorneys, artists, consultants, all who want to stand in the value of what they have to offer, successfully package their services and promote themselves authentically. They are looking for the basics on how to start a business. They want what I call an “ authentic marketing approach ” to getting clients. They want to find and work with the “right ” clients; clients who want what they have to offer and who are willing to pay for their services. They want to learn the basics and effective ways to create a marketing system that help them continuously get new clients, communicate to them without spending thousands of dollars on marketing gimmicks and successfully lead in the “enrolling conversations & rdquo; without feeling like they are “ selling ”. My approach is designed to help start-ups entrepreneurs know who they are, stand in the quality of what they offer, package what they do and get the money they want without losing their authenticity and integrity.

The second group of people I work with, are professional women or entrepreneurs, between 40 and 60 years old, who have been in business for a while and successful at the cost of neglecting something: their health, family life, deeper meaning, and purpose etc. They are experiencing or have experienced a temporary breakdown caused by something external (a business/health/life challenge) and are ready to look deeper into themselves, because they recognize that something has to change and they are ready and willing to do the work. They have reached a point where they recognize that their business will only grow as much as they grow and are willing to address the deeper issues that led them to & ldquo; breakdown ”. They want to increase performance implementing sustainable systems, both personally and in their business.

They know that their business/career will not grow without letting go of the habits that perpetuate stress, and the mindset that keeps them playing small. They are truly ready to look beyond the causes of their breakdown and have a breakthrough that will support their health, reconnect them to their authentic power, and put them back into their innate leadership position in both their personal life and business. They recognize that these are cornerstone principles of success.

3) How are you different than other life/business coaches?

I have owned three businesses successfully. I bring a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of business, wellness, life, and corporate training. Because I can work on both levels — personal and business — I have the tools to help people build a solid foundation to help them succeed, while removing the internal roadblocks that keep them from functioning at their best. The programs I offer are highly experiential, there is nothing like practice to get better at anything so I teach what I have learned and done myself. I believe that action speaks louder than words. I structure my coaching programs both on knowledge and experience and encourage people to take action immediately after we start working together. I tailor my approach to each individual because not everyone stands in the same place when it comes down to business building and marketing. I focus on helping individuals recognize and value who they are, what they stand for and focus their efforts on what they want not what they think they “ should ” do. Because of my extensive background in the field of health and wellness, I make sure that as they build their business my clients remain “ sane” and healthy.

4) What type of personality do you work best with, and what is expected of me?

I work with courageous women, who believe in taking responsibility, who are interested in looking deeper into the root causes of their challenges, and want to grow beyond that. They believe in lining up their actions with purpose, and accept that sometimes less is more. They are ready to make a change. They may feel nervous and unsure of how to proceed, yet they have made the decision to take the first step, and they acknowledge that they cannot do it alone. They want support, a clear step-by-step process, and they are willing to put in the efforts to make that change happen. They also know that deep and permanent changes don’t happen overnight. They commit to showing up, and consistently put in the time and effort to take action. Small steps implemented every day are more likely to yield success than huge steps taken randomly.

5) What type of people will this NOT work for?

Please know that I'm very selective in who I work with and that I cherry-pick my clients, choosing to (gently) turn away people who are not suited for my programs and won't get the results for which they would have signed up for (it wouldn't be fair to them). The Power To Be You™ programs are NOT for people who are in an emotional/psychological crisis that is of a therapeutic level. Coaching works well conjointly with professional therapists, and I will not hesitate to refer you to professionals if this is the case. It is also NOT for those who have no money coming in and who are absolutely, financially desperate (at least not right away). It has been my experience that if you find yourself in this situation, you need to address your financial needs first in order to be able to make your transition. Another type of person I won't work with (without exception) is the whiner, the chronic skeptic, or someone who constantly makes excuses for not taking action. If you are one of these people, I gently and respectfully ask that you not call, and I hope you understand why. We'll probably just not work well together, and I wouldn’t want to waste your time or money. Let's make this work for both of us. If you fall within any of these categories, it's absolutely OK. We've all been in times of emotional and/or financial crisis at one point or another. Do yourself 3 favors:

  1. Make a point to look for past recordings or read past blog posts, or join me for the free monthly teleclass and in-person workshops that I offer locally if you live near by. Keep checking the website from time to time to join any other free offers that I might have.

Doing these three things will really help you gear up and get your process started. There are also a number of books that I recommend you read for help developing your goals. When you're ready, call me and we’ll get you started. I'm in no rush and will be here when you need me.

6) What exactly are the The Power To Be You™ programs?

The Power To Be You™ programs work on helping you regain balance on all levels—physical, emotional, and mental, allowing you to have all your resources available to tackle your business issues and make the important decisions that you need to make. We work a parallel path, helping you do both, grow your business and yourself simultaneously. We address the business issues from a wider perspective, helping you make the challenging and empowering decisions needed and taking the immediate actions necessary to bring you results and success.

What happens in the mind happens in the body and what happens in the body happens in the mind. Most people try to change the external circumstances of their life without ever addressing the internal issues that led to those circumstances. I work on both. In order to be permanent, change needs to happen on all levels.

When our body is healthy, calm and centered, our thinking/feeling is clear and focused. What causes stress is a disconnect between the mind and the body, a lack of awareness and inability to impact what we are aware of. Thoughts and feelings have the power to affect our physiology, our willpower and our ability to create permanent change. When we perceive something as a threat, whether that threat is real or not, our body responds to it the same way would if we were facing “real danger.” Constant stress maintains our body in a state of alert, that eventually depletes our functions, physical health, mental sharpness, focus and memory, emotional resiliency, etc.

The goal of this program is to get you out of the “overwhelmed and stressed out” feelings, get back into the leader’s seat, help you create a simple plan that you can implement and take consistent daily actions that will bring you more clients and the money you want.

7) What results can I expect?

The results will be proportionate to the efforts that you put in. I don’t necessarily mean physical effort; sometimes the effort will be less about outward actions, and more about internal inquiry, where I will ask you to dive deeper into your mindset, emotions, and beliefs, so that you can transform them.

What you can expect is deep and permanent change as long as you commit to doing the work. Once your actions are aligned with the “right intentions,” you will be UNSTOPPABLE and feel empowered to make the changes that you need to make to get the results you want to get.

Once you have clarified your direction and decided on a course of action, change is guaranteed.

8) How will we work together and what does the program entail?

  1. You can choose to download my FREE Gift as a start-up point, posted on both my website and my Facebook page to begin the process on your own.

  2. You can join me for a FREE teleclass or workshop (please check the calendar for upcoming events).

  3. To gain the most value and move faster in your process, I invite you to work with me in “The Power To Be You in Business and Life” 6 month program. Click here for more information on this program or to schedule an “Ignite Your Fire- Engage Your Power Business Breakthrough session with me.

  4. You can also join me in one of the groups that I lead from time to time. Visit the coaching page to see when the next upcoming programs will be available.

9) Okay, I am ready to get started. What do I do next?

Please click here to schedule a 30-minute “Ignite Your Fire- Engage Your Power Business Breakthrough session to make sure that you qualify. Most people do qualify, and I want to make sure that this process will work for both of us. If you work with me individually, our first meeting will be an intake session where we will review your intake form (which you will be required to fill out prior to our first meeting). I also will need a credit card number for the deposit needed to reserve your spot.

Why the committal period? Because most likely, the challenges that have kept you from moving forward before, will show up again, and I want to see you go through these “inner barriers” successfully. Change doesn’t happen overnight and you should consider this as an investment to your career/business. Great athletes hire the best coaches, because they recognize that on their own, they would not move beyond their own self-imposed limitations.
